The Third Annual Space Weather Community Operations Workshop will be held Thursday and Friday, March 28 and 29, 2013 in Park City, Utah, at the Newpark Resort and Hotel. The 3rd Annual Space Weather Community Operations Workshop (SpWxCOW3) will bring together commercial, agency and university Space Weather operational personnel in a 2-day meeting to promote a robust data exchange capacity within the Space Weather enterprise. Participants will share common operational problems and solutions as well as work toward developing common best practices, and eventually standards, for Space Weather operations.
Topic areas will cover operational activities from production, archiving, and distribution best practices to utilization expectations. Oral presentations and discussions in relation to reliability, maintainability, accessibility, and dependability qualities of space weather operations will include focus on:
- Lessons from last workshop and challenges ahead
- Operations Procedures
- Operations Problems
- Real-Time Data Sharing
- Data Storage
- Data Archiving
- Break-Out Discussion Sessions (covering these various topics)
- Best Practices
The workshop will be held at the Newpark Resort and Hotel in scenic Park City, Utah. Newpark Resort features 175 guest rooms. Park City is a 30-minute drive from the Salt Lake City, Utah airport along I-80. Rental cars at SLC or airport shuttles that run regularly to Park City allow visitors to quickly arrive at the workshop location with minimal delay.
There is no registration fee for this sponsored workshop. Hotel rates are $149 per night for the Deluxe Room and $239 per night for the Suite (all USD and before taxes). Moderate-priced restaurants are within paces of the hotel for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
